IN CASE YOU DON'T KNOW US… l'Association Folquébec is dedicated to spreading the word, both near and far, about the many talented folk artists that call Québec home. You're in for some surprises as you stroll through the prolific musical garden in cultivation here (folk music being notable for its extremely broad and tangled roots): traditional Québécois song, music and dance; «New World» Celtic; experimental and techno-folk; multi-coloured blues; French-fingerstyle; fiery Latin; folk that rocks and pops; wistful ballads, bitter complaintes, splendiferous love songs; all manner of roots music, both born and transplanted to Québec's rich, cultural soil. But what it all has in common is an uncommonly vibrant spirit that has been making audiences sit up, take notice and get excited, at festivals, in clubs and on concert stages, here and abroad.
